Yrjö Kokko
Yrjö Olavi Samuli Kokko (16 October 1903, Sortavala – 6 September 1977, Helsinki) was Finnish veterinarian and writer. His was married to dentist Aune Ilus. He is most notable for his fairy tale Pessi and Illusia and initiating conservation work for whooper swan in Finland.〔(He lived for a long time in Lapland, in Muonio and Enontekiö and wrote about Sami culture and the nature in Lapland. Environmental protection in Finland — ThisisFINLAND )〕 In the 50s he became upset, because new time and new lifestyle came to Lapland. He was awarded with Pro Finlandia medal in 1956.
